Donations Reach $275,000;
This Year’s Campaign Closes January 31
NEWARK, NJ (January 22, 2014) — In its second distribution of the 2013 campaign, the Greater Newark Holiday Fund (GNHF; www.holidayfund.org) has sent $91,800 to eleven social service agencies to help fund their work on behalf of needy individuals and families in six counties of northern New Jersey. GNHF had distributed $101,500 in mid-December, bringing total distributions for the campaign to $192,800.
With less than two weeks to go before the campaign ends, GNHF has collected $275,000 in donations from individuals and organizations throughout the area. The Fund will make final distributions after the campaign closes on January 31. However, it will continue to accept donations throughout the coming year, crediting them to the 2014 campaign.
Frank Ferruggia, fund President and a partner at Newark-based law firm McCarter & English LLP posits, “The more money we can collect, the more good our wonderful agency partners can do for the homeless and destitute, children, the elderly, needy families and individuals.
“We urge the generous people of New Jersey to join us in making this holiday season the best ever for neighbors who need a helping hand.”
GNHF raises money during the winter holidays to support local social service agencies that assist people in Essex, Union, Passaic, Hudson, Morris, and Bergen counties.
